TC4/GR5 Titanium Plate & Rod: High-Strength Alloy for Harsh Environment and High-Performance Engineering
TC4 (Chinese standard) and GR5 (ASTM international standard) are the same grade of α+β type titanium alloy, composed of 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium—one of the most widely used titanium alloys in industrial and high-end fields. Unlike pure titanium (TA2/GR2), it combines ultra-high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, good high-temperature performance, and reliable processability, making it irreplaceable in scenarios where pure titanium and common metals fail to meet high-stress and harsh environment requirements.
TC4/GR5 delivers exceptional mechanical performance, far exceeding pure titanium. In annealed condition, its tensile strength reaches 860-960MPa, yield strength ≥795MPa, with elongation of 10-15%—striking a perfect balance between high strength and ductility. With a density of 4.43g/cm³, it maintains superior specific strength, lighter than steel but stronger than most aluminum alloys, ideal for lightweight, high-load structural designs in aerospace, military, and heavy machinery.
Beyond high strength, it retains excellent corrosion resistance. Like pure titanium, it forms a dense oxide film, resisting seawater, chloride ions, weak acids, alkalis, and industrial corrosive media. What sets it apart is its better stress corrosion cracking resistance and notch sensitivity, performing stably in harsh marine, chemical, and offshore environments, with longer service life and lower maintenance costs than stainless steel and aluminum alloys.
TC4/GR5 also excels in high-temperature performance, maintaining stable mechanical properties at temperatures up to 400℃—superior to pure titanium, making it suitable for high-temperature components such as aerospace engine parts and industrial furnace fittings. It has good processability, compatible with forging, rolling, machining, and welding, with precise dimensional control during processing, adapting to complex component fabrication.
TC4/GR5 titanium plate and rod have targeted applications. Titanium plate is widely used in aerospace structural parts, chemical pressure vessels, marine engineering components, and high-temperature heat exchangers, leveraging its flat surface and strong load-bearing capacity. Titanium rod is ideal for machining precision shafts, valves, fasteners, military equipment components, and medical implants, with good machinability to achieve tight tolerances.
Its excellent biocompatibility (non-toxic, non-irritating) also makes it suitable for medical fields, such as orthopedic implants and surgical instruments, while its high strength meets the long-term use requirements of medical devices. In the automotive sector, it is used for high-performance parts to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency.
Our TC4/GR5 products comply with GB/T 2965 and ASTM B348 standards, covering full specifications of titanium plates (various thicknesses/widths) and titanium rods (diameters 5mm-300mm). Each batch undergoes strict testing for chemical composition, mechanical properties, and ultrasonic flaw detection, ensuring no internal defects. Custom cutting, precision machining, and heat treatment services are available to meet diverse project needs.
For high-performance, harsh-environment projects requiring strength, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature stability, TC4/GR5 titanium plate and rod are professional, reliable solutions, outperforming pure titanium and common metals in critical scenarios.
